Position Overview:
Your Health is seeking an experienced and strategic Vice President of Payer Contracting to join our leadership team. This individual will play a crucial role in shaping and optimizing our payer contracting strategy, ensuring competitive and sustainable reimbursement rates that align with industry standards. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of payer negotiations within a primary care setting, with a proven track record of success in managing payer relationships and contracts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Payer Negotiation: Lead and manage all payer contracting efforts, including the negotiation of rates and terms with payers. Develop and implement strategies that optimize reimbursement and align with the company’s financial goals.
- Relationship Management: Maintain strong, positive relationships with payer organizations and professionals. Serve as the primary point of contact for payer discussions, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
- Contract Management: Maintain a comprehensive roster of all payer agreements, including details of negotiated rates and terms. Ensure that contracts are up-to-date, accessible, and compliant with regulatory requirements.
- Renegotiation Strategy: Develop and maintain a routine schedule for contract renegotiation. Monitor industry trends and rate standards to ensure that Your Health remains competitive and aligned with market expectations.
- Revenue Management: Collaborate with the Senior Vice President of Finance and other leadership team members on revenue management activities, including financial forecasting, budgeting, and revenue cycle optimization.
- Compliance: Ensure all payer contracts comply with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies. Work closely with the legal and compliance teams to address any issues that arise.
- Reporting: Provide regular updates to the Senior Vice President of Finance on the status of payer contracts, negotiation progress, and overall payer strategy. Prepare detailed reports and presentations as needed.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of experience in payer relations within a primary care practice, with a strong background in payer contracting and negotiation.
- Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the healthcare payer landscape, particularly in primary care. Familiarity with industry standards and best practices in contract negotiation.
Skills:
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple contracts and deadlines.
- Proficiency in data analysis and financial modeling related to payer contracts.
- Strategic thinking with the ability to align payer contracting efforts with overall company objectives.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, finance, business, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
